Tejinder sodhi Baramulla: At least ten people died and fifty three were injured in a tragic road mishjap here today. the condition of many ingured are stated to be critical. The seriously injured have been shifted to various hospitals in the srinagare city. The incidence took place when the driver of a fast moving and heavily overloaded vehile bearing no. JKC 5651 was trying to overtake another bus at a blind curve lost his control over the bus and the bus plunged into a 150 feet deep gorge killing eight commuters on the spot. The bus was heading for Baramulla from Tathamulla uri. This incidence took polace at around 10 in the morning, as the vus was jam packed with the college students. The eyewitnesses say that the accident was because of the negligence of the driver, an injured person when speaking tpo this reporter said, “ we were asking the driver to go slow but he had to reach early to get number, on the same time when the driver was on the curve he was busy changing a casseste in his tape player.” Majority of the injured were shifted to various hospitals in srinagar and the condition of many of them is stated to be serious. However the police have identified the dead as Gh. Qadir dar S/o abdul rehman Dar of Salamabad Uri, Bashir Ahmaad S/o Kadir mir R/o tathmulla, Abdul Aziz Sheikh S/O Gh. Qadir sheikh R/O Nowshera Nuzrat bano D/O Ali Mohmmad Mir R/O Nowshera Nuzhat Ali D/o ali Mohammad R/o Nowshera, Nissar ahmad Bakarwal S/O mangla Bakarwal Of Chak zainpora, Famida W/O Mohd. Maqbool of Naloosa Uri Shah Begum W/o Sharief Mughal Of Salambad Ur, Nissar Of limber. Eyewitnesses say that the local police reached the spot when all the injured were evacuated from the area they also say that the army has also played a major role in saving the life of many as the GoC 19 infantry division who was on a Reiki patrolling at the time of accident dared to land his helicopter at the site of accident. The first to reach the spot was local army as Goc on the spot instructed the Commanding officer of 161 H&H to look after the arrangments. However the pathetic condition of the patients was seen as like animals they were filled in a single ambulance of the hospital. The patients were carried on the shoulders as the lack of stretchers was also seen, on the request of Kashmir Monitor the GoC on the spot arranged for 12 stretchers and the arrangement for the eatables for the injured was arranged. However few army ambullances were also send to help shifting the patients from baramulla hospital to srinagar. Army also offered its helecopter for the shifting of the patients. The local administration including the DIG police Ashok Gupata, Munir Khan SSP Baramulla and deputy commissioner Baramulla reached the spot after hearing the news of the tragic accident. The locals blame that this type of accidents will continue to happen as there is no check on the overloading of passengers as because of the lack of traffic police in the town However the lack of infrastructure added to the overall miseries of the patients, as there was only one ambulance available in the hospital certain private vehicles came voluntary to give a helping hand to patients. Ciaos and confusion gripped the town of Baramulla when the news of this tragic incidence spread in the town and people gathered in the hospital to look about their kiths and kin. The crowd of the people was so immense that it became difficult for the concerned police in charge to control the crowd. The minister for Finance and law Muzaffar Hussain Beigh also visited the spot and instructed the doctors to provide all necessary treatment to the patients in the hospital. The relatives of the patients were in a situation of shock and dilemma as they were not allowed to enter the hospital premises by the police..
